What is a Slot?
A slot is a connection to a particular user on a server. It is used to manage the content of an offer management panel. A slot can only be configured with one scenario and it is not recommended to use more than one.
A narrow notch, groove, or opening, as in a keyway in a piece of machinery or a slit for a coin in a vending machine. A slot is also a place or position in a group, series, sequence, etc.
The term ‘slot’ is also used in hockey to describe the area of the ice right in front of the goaltender and between the face-off circles. These are called the low and high slots. Slot receivers are smaller players who can stretch the defense vertically using short routes like slants or quick outs.
A slot is a specific type of object in a component programming system such as Qt. A slot is a normal member function that can receive signals. The slot does not know if anything has connected to it and this allows truly independent components to be created. Slots can be connected to multiple signals, but the signal must have a unique signature that is compatible with the slot. Otherwise, a runtime error will be reported. This is why it is important to use the SIGNAL and SLOT macros with care. A signature with fewer arguments than the slot is expecting will cause the slot to not send any signals.
